This one of a kind blank book is upcycled from a cool green egg carton and paper grocery bags. It is the perfect place to hatch ideas... as a journal or sketchbook or even a place to record your favorite recipes. It is filled with 144 pages of brown paper cut from grocery bags (a few pages show small portions of the red supermarket graphics originally printed on the bags) and it is 4" x 6" x 3 3/4" in size.
The cover is created from a paper egg carton. The original egg carton closure has been moved to serve as a closure for the book.

The ECHO project, from the ID program at Western Washington University, is an inventive and creative experiment focusing on turning industrial waste and scrap into viable and desirable products. Students intercept industrial waste before it reaches landfills and then use this as source material to produce innovative products. The project teaches principles of recycling, design, marketing and production in one shot

One of the pioneering innovators in turning industrial refuse into functional gear is Freitag, the Swiss company launched by a pair of entrepreneurial bike-riding designers who decided that dirty old truck tarps would make ideal messenger bags. Frietag blew up quickly from its humble beginnings — it’s easy to love bags that are durable, waterproof, recycled, and one-of-a-kind. But in scaling up, Freitag’s never compromised their commitment to material reuse and local production (in Zurich).

Representing a folk art form appropriately dubbed "recyclia," these "found objects" have been "recycled" into a new, unexpected and surprising life as miniature vehicles. Who would have expected a used motor oil can to become a Land Rover®, or a discarded tuna can to become a boat?
Where does this creative recycling process begin? Without the distractions of television or the plethora of manufactured toys that surround youngsters in the West, African children must create playthings for themselves. Everywhere in Africa, children use whatever materials are available to amuse themselves. A youthful fascination with locomotion and vehicles is common in all corners of the African continent. A miniature vehicle, even a simple wheel, can entertain for hours at a time. If asked what the object is, a child will answer "car" or "truck." There seems to be no word for "toy" in many African languages.

Blackpool Council
Blackpool Council is making sure that residents and holiday-makers are reminded about recycling in traditional seaside fashion.
The council has produced tasty little pieces of Blackpool rock, with the Recycle Now icon printed all the way through.
Anyone trying one of these at roadshows or public events will be sure to swallow the recycling message whole.

Gateshead Council
To commemorate the BIG recycle 2006, Gateshead Council found a blooming creative way of promoting recycling to residents.
Using the Recycle Now logo as inspiration, the council planted a special 'Recycle for Gateshead' flower bed in central Gateshead, attracting the interest of hundreds of passing motorists and residents.

What’s better than a beautiful chic handbag made entirely from recycled materials?
How about one that is not only eco-friendly, recycled, and supercute - but also engages fair-trade and socially empowering business practices by employing Brazilian craftswomen in hand production of the bags?

Its case is covered in bamboo, which I suppose is a statement, but the real show is inside. The plastic in the ecobook is made out of recycled materials, it is lined with cardboard, there are no paints, sprays or even electroplating used on its components.

Hotel made of incredibly robust drainpipes.
The external simplicity surrounds an unexpectedly comfortable interior - full headroom, double bed, storage, light, power, woolly blanket and light cotton sleeping bag. All other hotel devices (toilets, showers, mini bar, cafe, etc) are supplied by the surrounding public space.

In Los Angeles there is a new kind of gas station. It isn’t like an ordinary gas station. The idea grew out of BP's commitment to balancing society's need for energy with a responsible approach to the environment. It reflects their belief that small steps in the right direction can make a difference.
